Abstract
Intertextuality is a linguistic approach in the field of new literary criticism and means the connection of a text with the text preceding or succeeding it or the re-creation of a text according to an absent text. Although this theory was a new subject in contemporary criticism, it has long and especially been discussed in Islamic texts under titles such as tazmin, allusion, and reference. Therefore, studying the Qur’anic themes of Persian poetry, in particular taking an intertextual approach, is of great importance. Delgoshanameh by Mirza Arjmand Azad Kashmiri is an example of valuable dormant reserves of Persian language, the re-reading and revival of which can be effective in helping a part of the history of Islam, especially the history of Shiism. In addition to its literary aspect, this Masnavi is also of historical importance, because it narrates in the form of poetry the uprising in Kufa after the bloody incident of Ashura until the martyrdom of Mukhtar. The present study aims to investigate the extent to which this work is influenced by the Holy Qur’an. While examining the structural features and the content of Delgshanameh, the present descriptive-analytical article, has analyzed the extent and the way this work has been influenced by the Qur’an. The results of the research indicate that Azad has used various types of Qur’anic intertextuality, but the frequency of lexical intertextuality (innovation and borrowing) and references is higher and more prominent than other types of intertextuality in his words.
