The meaning of propositions is the most important topic in the philosophy of language of the twentieth century, which included two dominant referential and appplied theories. The referential theory considered all propositions that were not directly referrable to the signified and could not be experimentally tested to be meaningless. On the other hand, the applied theory with two paradigms of 'meaning as application' and 'language games' considered all propositions meaningful according to their logic. One of the most important Qurʾānic propositions is imagery. In Qurʾānic images, heaven and hell have high frequencies. Thus, the present descriptive and analytical research tried to investigate the meaning of visual propositions about heaven and hell in Surah Al-Ghashiyah. After the analysis, it was found that from the perspective of the referential theory, only two of the propositions, heaven and hell, are meaningless in Surah Al-Ghashiyah. Also, the most important finding was that the followers of the referential theory consider religious propositions as meaningless, but the image that depicts hell and heaven in Surah Al-Ghashiyah is 86% meaningful, that is, even if the religious proposition is denied, it is impossible to deny the meaningfulness of these images and, as a result, their reality.
