The findings indicate that adapting Jakobson's model of verbal communication to the narratives of Sūrah al-Kahf requires special consideration of revelation and divine knowledge of the unseen as integral components of the communicative channel, in contrast to the secular assumptions underlying Jakobson's original model. The analysis further shows that all six of Jakobson's communicative functions—referential, emotive, conative, phatic, metalingual, and poetic—are represented in the selected Qur’anic narratives. While the emotive function predominates in the narrative of the Companions of the Cave, the conative function is most prominent in the story of Prophets Musa and Khidr. Overall, the verses concerning the Companions of the Cave emphasize God's mercy and compassion toward the recipients of the message, whereas the narrative of Musa and Khidr highlights Moses' efforts to accompany and follow Khidr, reflecting both emotive and conative functions. Nevertheless, the referential function remains dominant in both narratives, complemented by the metalingual function.
